PROCESSING
underground
Condition / Tests
- The provisions of VOB Part C apply to the execution of the joint work.
- The masonry to be grouted should be cured and at least 3 to 4 weeks old.
preparation
- The joints must be scraped out to a depth of at least 1.5 to 2.0 cm so that the edges are clean.
- Cleaning and sufficient pre-wetting is a prerequisite for tight and strong adhesion.
- Carefully close cavities in the masonry beforehand.
- In unfavorable conditions, such as B. high temperatures, strong drafts, highly absorbent stones or mortar, the joint mesh must be particularly pre-wet before applying the joint mortar.
processing
temperature
- Do not apply and allow to dry / set at air, material and substrate temperatures below +5 °C and when night frost is to be expected and above +30 °C, direct sunlight , strongly heated substrates and/or strong winds.
Mixing / preparing / processing
- When mixing by hand, first put the amount of water specified in the technical data into a clean container and then sprinkle in the dry mortar. Use clean tap water.
- Mix the material homogeneously and free of lumps using a suitable agitator.
- Consistency: earth-moist to slightly plastic.
- Always mix the mortar with the same water content, since different additions of water can lead to a different joint pattern or stains.
- Do not add any more water during processing, otherwise color differences are possible.
- Do not mix with other products and/or foreign substances.
Application / processing
- With normal joint depths, the joint mortar is applied fresh on fresh in two layers and firmly compacted.
- 1st step: first insert the butt joint and then the horizontal joint
2nd step: first insert the horizontal joint and then the butt joint. - Uniform processing is largely responsible for color consistency.
- Cover the masonry during work breaks.
workable time
- about 90 minutes
- Times given refer to +20°C and 65% relative humidity.
- Mortar that has already set must not be diluted with additional water, mixed up and further processed.
drying / hardening
- Protect the fresh mortar from drying out too quickly and from unfavorable weather conditions such as e.g. B. frost, drafts, direct sunlight and direct driving rain, if necessary by hanging with foil.
- An optimal post-treatment to prevent “burning up/dying of thirst” is achieved by keeping it moist.
tool cleaning
- Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
Hints
- Due to the use of natural raw materials, the color shades can also vary depending on the respective manufacturing plant.
- Do not mix joint and VOR masonry mortar from different production plants on the object.
- Do not mix quick-mix S-FM joint mortar with quick-mix FM joint mortar on one object.
- Visually connected surfaces are to be processed with material from the same manufacturing batch to avoid color differences.
- The color tone is influenced by the absorbency of the substrate, the weather conditions and the way of working and can therefore deviate. Subsequent deliveries must be checked for color match prior to processing.
- We therefore recommend creating a sample area beforehand.
consumption / yield
- Yield: approx. 14.5 l wet mortar per sack
- Empirical values for 1 m 2 (without wastage):
- Consumption: approx. 7.5 kg/m² for DF solid bricks
